NetSuite Expands AI Capabilities, Launches XaaS Edition for SMBs

NetSuite has introduced new AI-driven features and a XaaS Edition aimed at small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) with hybrid business models. The updates, included in NetSuite’s latest platform release, are designed to improve automation, efficiency, and operational flexibility.

The new AI capabilities include the CPQ AI Assistant for automated quote configuration, Text Enhance for streamlined data entry, and a Prompt Management API for integrating AI-driven workflows. Additionally, NetSuite Expert for SuiteAnswers enhances support with AI-powered natural language processing.

The XaaS Edition provides businesses with a unified framework to manage both product and service offerings, reflecting a shift toward hybrid business models that blend traditional sales with service-based revenue streams.

The AI features and XaaS Edition are now available at no additional cost in NetSuite’s latest ERP update.

New AI Features Enhance Automation

NetSuite’s latest AI tools are built to enhance workflow automation and operational efficiency, according to Evan Goldberg, founder and executive vice president of Oracle NetSuite. Speaking at the SuiteConnect 2025 event in New York, Goldberg emphasized that fully embedded AI capabilities—rather than standalone AI add-ons—are key to driving real productivity improvements.

The new AI capabilities include:

  • CPQ AI Assistant – Automates quote configuration via natural language chat.
  • Text Enhance – Improves data entry speed and accuracy in custom text fields.
  • Prompt Management API – Centralizes AI prompt management for easier integrations.
  • NetSuite Expert for SuiteAnswers – Uses AI-driven natural language processing for better user support.

These enhancements are designed to reduce manual effort and improve decision-making across ERP, finance, and customer service functions.

XaaS Edition Targets Hybrid Business Models

The Anything-as-a-Service (XaaS) Edition is designed for SMBs that operate with hybrid business models, selling both products and services. This approach reflects a broader shift in the market, where traditional business categories—such as wholesale, retail, and services—are increasingly converging.

Goldberg explained that NetSuite has been supporting hybrid models for years but is now packaging these capabilities into a dedicated offering to better serve modern entrepreneurs.

“This blurring of the lines has worked well to NetSuite’s advantage,” Goldberg said. “We’ve been doing it all along, but now we’re saying: We know how your business is evolving, and we’ve got the right tools to support you.”

The XaaS Edition provides SMBs with a unified system for managing accounting, operations, and customer interactions—critical for businesses that blend recurring revenue, product sales, and service-based offerings.

Competitive Landscape

While NetSuite’s AI-powered tools are in line with what other ERP vendors are offering, the XaaS Edition is a differentiator, according to Brian Sommer, founder and president of TechVentive.

“Some of what they’re doing with AI is identical to what other vendors are doing,” Sommer said. “All vendors are struggling with how to differentiate anything that they’re doing with AI.”

However, he noted that the XaaS Edition provides a distinct advantage for SMBs needing integrated solutions for hybrid business models.

“They’ve put this together in a single, highly integrated system, so there’s value in that,” Sommer said. “It’s almost shame on other companies for not doing something similar.”

NetSuite’s Ongoing Innovation Strategy

NetSuite continues to update its cloud ERP platform twice a year, with each release adding AI-driven functionality and industry-specific enhancements.

The platform, aimed primarily at SMBs, includes ERP, finance and accounting, CRM, human capital management (HCM), field service management, and professional services automation.

With this latest release, NetSuite is doubling down on AI automation and XaaS capabilities, reinforcing its position as a leading cloud ERP provider for growing businesses.
